Puppy Pre-SchoolWe currently run Puppy Pre-School classes from our Hawera and Stratford clinics. It is a comprehensive 3-week course aimed at providing your puppy with basic training and socialisation skills. Puppy Pre-School puppies LOVE coming into the clinic and build lifelong bonds with our staff.
Welcoming a new puppy into your family is a very exciting time, it can also be very stressful. Our Puppy Preschool classes equip you with important information you need to make it a smooth transition.  Our classes are structured to give your puppy a steady introduction to training and socialization while they are in their development stage of under 12 weeks. To raise confident friendly puppies, they need to have positive experiences with a variety of different people, animals, places and sounds. The timing of this socialization is vital.Between 3-12 weeks of age puppies are interested and open to accepting and interacting with new people and puppies. What they experience at this age will set them up for what they expect, and accept from different situations as an adult dog. Missing these opportunities may induce a fear response when exposed to new situations later in life.
Puppy Preschool Info: - Classes go for 1 hour sessions, 1 night a week. - Puppies must be between 8-16 weeks of age - Puppies must have had their first vaccination - Learn essential puppy training and basic commands in a fun, supportive environment. - Develop important social skills through supervised interaction with other puppies and people. - Gain practical advice on nutrition, toilet training, grooming, handling and general puppy care. - Build your understanding of puppy behaviour and how to encourage good habits from an early age. - Receive guidance and support from experienced veterinary nurses to help your puppy get the best start in life.
