Preventative Services and Advice

Mastitis - some of our staff have specialised in and can provide advice for solving cell count, mastitis and grading problems.

Trace Elements - blood testing, liver sampling, pasture and feed testing are available. Several trials have been done over the years so that we have a good handle on local conditions and levels.

Nutrition - feed testing for quality and minerals. Blood sampling to asssess mineral status and formulate supplementation programmes. Farm walks and condition scoring are also done. Pasture samples are taken routinely and analysed for quality.

Facial Eczema - weekly spore counts are taken from a number of sites throughout our practice to give you an idea of the risk of facial eczema. These results will be available on the Spore Counts page immediately after sampling and an email alert system is also available.

Reproduction Management

We can arrange programmes to suit your needs ranging from synchronising of heifers and cows to solving non-cycling and fertility problems.

Whole Herd Pregnancy Testing - either ultrasound or manually. We also provide all the planks and supports for both rotary and herringbone sheds. Lepto vaccinations can be done at the same time and can often be done during milking time.

Bull Soundness Examinations are also available.

  • 1982 Cobalt - milk production and reproduction
  • 1983-84 Iodine responses
  • 1986-88 Selenium milk production and reproduction

Vaccination Programmes

We have a 99.6% lepto vaccination rate amongst our clients and this is partly due to our very efficiently organised vaccination programmes. We also offer anthelmintic and vitamin B12 injections at the same time as calf vaccinations. Our in-house monitoring systems mean that your stock are vaccinated on time, every time, no matter what vaccines you require.
